LYCOMING WOMEN’S SOCCER WINS THIRD STRAIGHT

CLARKS SUMMIT, Pa. – The Lycoming College women’s soccer team traveled to Baptist Bible College, Thursday afternoon, for a non-conference match. The Warriors were strong on the attack scoring four goals to defeat the Defenders, 4-2, and win their third consecutive match. Lycoming is now 3-1 on the season. Baptist Bible falls to 2-3.

Beth Weixel (Sr./Mill Hall, Pa.; Central Mountain) led the Warriors with two goals and an assist in the contest. Her first goal came in the 10^th minute off an assist from Laura Dillon (Sr./Bayside, N.Y.; St. Mary’s). Kaitlyn Prairie (Jr./Delran, N.J.; Delran) put Lycoming ahead 2-0 with an unassisted goal at 22:55. Kristin Fenstermacher (So./Muncy Valley, Pa.; Hughesville) added a third first-half goal off an assist from Weixel to give the visitors a 3-1 advantage at the intermission.

The Defenders closed within one with a goal in the 60^th minute, but Weixel put the match out of reach with her second goal nine minutes later. Jennifer Darpino (Jr./Bensalem, Pa.; Bensalem) assisted on the play.

Jessica Bennett (Fr./Crofton, Md.; South River) went the distance in goal for the Warriors, making five saves.

Lycoming is at home for their next match, hosting DeSales University at 1 p.m. on Sunday, September 19.
