Women's Soccer

WARRIOR WOMEN’S SOCCER DOMINATES LINCOLN

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – The Lycoming College women’s soccer team hosted Lincoln University, Sunday afternoon, for a non-conference match. The Warriors dominated the Lions at both ends of the field, holding them to just one shot on goal while scoring eight goals of their own for an 8-0 victory. The eight goals scored is a single-game record for Lycoming. The Warriors improve to 9-2-1 on the season. Lincoln falls to 0-10-1.

Seven different Warriors scored a goal in the contest, led by Danielle Curry (Fr./West Chester, Pa.; East) with two. Curry also assisted on a score.

Laura Dillon (Sr./Bayside, N.Y.; St. Mary’s) scored the game’s first goal off an assist by Beth Weixel (Sr./Mill Hall, Pa.; Central Mountain). Weixel later added an assist on a goal by Curry to set a new Lycoming single-season assist record with nine so far this season.

Rachel Skinner (Fr./Salladasburg, Pa.; Jersey Shore) added one goal and two assists in the match. Other players tallying one goal included: Angie Conklin (So./Shermansdale, Pa.; West Perry), Kristen Fenstermacher (So./Muncy Valley, Pa.; Hughesville), Gabrielle Toy (Fr./Whitehall, Pa.; Whitehall), and Kelly Driscole (Jr./New Milford, Pa.; Blue Ridge). Amanda Rinesmith (Fr./Mechanicsburg, Pa.; Cedar Cliff) chipped in one assist.

Jessica Bennett (Fr./Crofton, Md.; South River) started in goal for the Warriors, but did not face a shot in 20 minutes. Mallory McDonald (Fr./Baltimore, Md.; Perry Hall) played the rest of the game in net and made one save on the Lions’ only shot-on-goal.

Lycoming will again be at home for their next match on Wednesday, October 13, when they host Keystone College. Kickoff for the game is at 3:30 p.m.
