WOMEN’S SOCCER KNOCKS OFF NOTRE DAME-MARYLAND
SELINSGROVE,
PA – The Lycoming College women’s soccer team picked up their
first win of the season, Sunday afternoon, defeating Notre
Dame-Maryland 2-1 in the consolation game of the Susquehanna
Tournament. The Warriors posted one goal in each period as they
improved their record to 1-1 on the season.
Angie
Conklin (Fr./Shermansdale, Pa.; West Perry)
tallied Lycoming’s first goal of the season in the 42nd
minute to give the Warriors a 1-0 advantage. Joanna Ale
(Fr./Bound Brook, N.J.; Bound Brook) assisted on the score. Katie
Swanson (Fr./Eldred, Pa.; Pottsville Central) then extended
Lycoming’s lead to 2-0 just seven minutes into the second half. Kaitlyn
Prairie (So./Delran, N.J.; Delran) was credited with the
assist.
Beth
Weixel (Jr./Mill Hall, Pa.; Central Mountain)
made six saves in goal for the Warriors, while allowing just one
score.
Lycoming
will travel back to Selinsgrove on Wednesday, September 10, for
their next match as they take on Susquehanna.
