WOMEN’S SOCCER SHUTS OUT LANCASTER BIBLE
WILLIAMSPORT,
PA – The Lycoming College women’s soccer team recorded a
non-conference victory, Wednesday afternoon, shutting out
Lancaster Bible College, 2-0. The win improves the Warriors record
to 6-5 overall this season.
The
two teams played scoreless ball through the first 80-plus minutes
of the contest. Lycoming finally broke through in the 82nd
minute when Heather Edelstein (So./Pottsgrove, Pa.; Milton)
found the back of the net off the rebound of a shot by Jennifer
Darpino (So./Bensalem, Pa.; Bensalem). Five minutes later the
Warriors added an insurance goal when they were awarded a penalty
kick for a foul in the box. Beth Weixel (Jr./Mill Hall, Pa.;
Central Mountain) converted the kick for the home team.
Weixel
also played the first 26 minutes of the match as Lycoming’s
goalkeeper. Amber Barnes (Fr./New Berlin, N.Y.; Unadilla Valley
Central) played the remainder of the contest in net. Neither
keeper faced a single shot behind a stellar performance by the
Warrior defense.
Lycoming
will play their next match on Saturday, October 18, when they
travel to FDU-Florham.
