WARRIOR WOMEN’S SOCCER DROPS MATCH TO SUSQUEHANNA

WILLIAMSPORT, PA – The Lycoming College women’s soccer team hosted rival Susquehanna University, Tuesday afternoon. The Crusaders scored twice in the first half and added a third goal in the second period to outdistance the Warriors, 3-1. Lycoming falls to 0-6 with the loss. Susquehanna improved to 1-5-1.

Melissa Wert (Sr./Mifflinburg, PA; Mifflinburg) scored the Warriors’ lone goal on a penalty kick in the seventh minute of the game. The tally tied the score at 1-1.

Kristin Abernathy scored the first goal of the game for the Crusaders, just five minutes into the match. Megan Deitmen recorded the game-winning goal in the 19^th minute off an assist by Kate McMaster. Aileen Cleary added the insurance goal in the 76^th minute off an assist by Danielle Zaborowski.

Angie Brewington (Sr./Benton, PA; Benton) made 12 saves in goal for Lycoming. Melissa Karschner, a graduate of Montoursville High School, made three saves for Susquehanna.

The Warriors next match is on Thursday, September 19, when they travel to Mansfield University.
