Warriors Take Two at PA/NY Duals
Defeat #18 Oswego and R.I.T., Fall to #13 Cortland

Official Results (not yet available)

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Lycoming wrestling won two of three matches at the annual Pennsylvania/New York duals hosted this year by the Rochester Institute of Technology.  The 12th ranked Warriors (7-3-1) upended R.I.T. in their first match 28-15 before scratching out a tough victory against #18 Oswego 20-18.  Lycoming fell to #13 Cortland 22-21 in its final match up.

Senior heavyweight Tommy Snyder (New Columbia, Pa./Milton), rated fifth in the nation in his weight class, led six Warrior wrestlers with multiple victories by claiming all three of his bouts.  Junior Sean Cullen (Cinnaminson, N.J./Cinnaminson) won both his matches at 133 pounds against R.I.T. and Cortland with senior Derek Crane (Elizabethtown, Pa./Elizabethtown) following suit at 184 pounds.

At 165 and 174 pounds, seniors Heath Oberlin (Mifflinburg, Pa./Mifflinburg) and Grant Brindle (Pine Grove, Pa./Pine Grove) trounced both of their opponents against R.I.T. and Oswego.  At 197 pounds, sophomore Matt Miller (Muncy, Pa./Muncy) joined Snyder as the only wrestler to claim multiple match victories against Lycoming’s ranked opponents (Oswego and Cortland).

Against R.I.T., Lycoming junior Nick Mascellino (Hopatcong, N.J./Hopatcong) came away with victory at 125 pounds.  Junior Kyle Hopkins (Milton, Del./Cape Henlopen) and freshman Al Wonesh (Columbus, N.J./North Burlington) defeated their Oswego opponents at 141 and 157 pounds, respectively.  Junior Eric Miller (Muncy, Pa./Muncy) won his bout at 157 pounds against Cortland by disqualification.

Lycoming is next in action on Tuesday, January 10, as the Warriors host Gettysburg College.  Match time is schedule for 7:00 p.m. in Lamade Gymnasium.
