Wrestlers Start New Year With Full Schedule
Two Tournaments and an Away Match Lead to Budd Whitehills

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa.—Lycoming’s wrestling team travels to Wilkes on January 4 for the John Reese Duals, then competes in the PA/NY Duals two days later. Two days after the PA/NY Duals, the squad travels to Gettysburg for an away match. This grueling schedule should thoroughly prepare the Warriors for their own Budd Whitehill Duals, which will be held at Lamade Gymnasium, January 12-13.

Nine of the nation’s top 30 division III wrestling teams, as ranked in the Brute/Adidas NWCA poll, will visit Lycoming for the Whitehills. The prestigious guest list includes SUNY-Cortland (#7), The College of New Jersey (#8) and defending Budd Whitehill team champion Loras College (#17). Lycoming was recently ranked #28 and plans to make a favorable impression on pollsters with extensive January competition.

Lycoming’s annual tournament is named after long-time Warrior coach Budd Whitehill, who died in the summer of 1993. Whitehill started the Lycoming wrestling program in 1956 and was the team's head coach for 37 seasons. He led Lycoming to a 376-173-5 record and 10 Middle Atlantic Conference championships during his career. His 376 victories ranked third all-time among NCAA Division III coaches and eighth among coaches in all divisions.
