Grapplers Maintain Excellence Hopkins, Kopesky and Miller Champions

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa.—Lycoming’s wrestlers fared well at Ursinus’ Fall Brawl tournament this weekend. Six Warriors placed top three in their weight class, with three taking the championship.

Kyle Hopkins (Milton DE), Bryan Kopesky (Phillipsburg, NJ) and Matt Miller (Muncy, PA) placed first at 141, 184 and 197 pounds respectively. All three championship matches were close, with Kopesky winning by the largest margin, 9-3.

125-pounder Joe Palmitessa (Scranton, PA) took second place, losing 7-2 in the final to Muhlenburg’s Tucker Grass. Sean Cullen (Cinnaminson, NJ) also placed second, at 133 pounds, falling 7-3 to Ray Sarinelli of The College of New Jersey.

Finally, Lycoming junior Drew Barder (Millersburg, PA) won the consolation bracket to win third place at 149 lbs.

The Warriors now have a significant hiatus which should allow Head Coach Roger Crebs' team time to get healthy for a two-day tournament at Messiah December 1 and 2. Both days start early, 10:00 and 8:00 a.m.
