Lycoming Defeats Gettysburg
Warriors Eye Budd Whitehill
Duals as National
Opportunity
GETTYSBURG,
Pa.—Lycoming made short work
of Gettysburg on Monday
night, dropping the Bullets
42-6. The Warriors, who have
wrestled thrice in five
days, are now ready for the
Budd Whitehill Duals this
weekend at Lamade Gymnasium.
Twenty teams will
participate in the
Whitehills, including nine
of division III’s top squads
as ranked on www.intermat.com.
The Warriors, who were
ranked #28 earlier in the
season, see the tournament
as an excellent opportunity
to impress pollsters and
reestablish themselves in
the national elite.
At Gettysburg, the match was
delayed for thirty minutes
waiting on the referee. But,
eventually, the action
started at 197 pounds, where
Matt Miller (Muncy, PA)
pinned his opponent to
put Lycoming up for good.
Troy Hansen (Westtown, NY),
who recently moved up a
weight class to
wrestle heavyweight, lost by
decision, 4-2. However, the
close score shows that
Hansen is learning to hang
with the big boys. Look for
him to surprise someone down
the line.
Again, the Budd Whitehill
Duals begin this Friday at
9:00 a.m. and continue on
Saturday. See
Whitehill
Central for more information.
