Wrestlers Win Oswego’s PA/NY Duals
Opponents Look For Revenge This Weekend

OSWEGO, N.Y.—Lycoming’s wrestlers traveled to the PA/NY Duals at Oswego State on Saturday. The Warriors won both of their matches, defeating R.I.T. 38-12 and Oswego State 24-15. Both opponents will attend the Budd Whitehill Duals in Williamsport this weekend.

Against R.I.T., Lycoming received great support from the middle of its lineup. Sean Cullen (Cinnaminson, NJ) won a 8-0 decision at 133 pounds, but the ball really started rolling at 149. Drew Barder (Millersburg, PA), Chris Dahlheimer (Felton, PA), Eddie Brown (Rutherford, NJ), Clint Gardener (Montoursville, PA), newcomer Justin Waycaster and Bryan Kopesky (Phillipsburg, NJ) claimed six victories in a row for the blue and gold. All but Barder won by pin. At heavyweight, head coach Roger Crebs again had Troy Hansen (Westtown, NY) step up a weight class. The experience could pay off, however, on this day, Hansen fell by major decision to R.I.T.’s Micah Vore.

In the final match, Lycoming took on Oswego State. The Warriors reeled off four initial wins by Joe Palmitessa (Scranton, PA), Cullen, Hopkins and Zach Frederick (West Chester, PA). Eric Miller (Muncy, PA) took over for Eddie Brown and defeated Colby Cooper at 165 pounds, while Waycaster and Kopesky dropped to their natural weights (174, 184) and won. Lycoming forfeited 197 pounds and entered George Rupp (Hanover, PA) at heavyweight.

R.I.T. and Oswego State are among 20 teams wrestling this weekend at Lycoming’s Budd Whitehill Duals. The tournament begins on Friday, January 12 at 9:00 a.m. and continues through Saturday.

Before the Whitehills, the Warriors travel to Gettysburg on January 8 for a 7:00 p.m. match-up with the Bullets.
