Lycoming Wins Two of Three at York
Cullen Keeps Stellar Record With Three Individual Wins

YORK, Pa.—The Warrior wrestling team traveled to York on Saturday for a four-team dual tournament. Lycoming faced Messiah, Hunter and York, who is nationally ranked #10.

Coming off of a loss to fourth-ranked Delaware Valley, head coach Roger Crebs’ team was looking to put three notches in the win column. The Warriors got off on the right foot, dominating Messiah 32-6, then beating Hunter 31-16. But in the tournament’s championship match, York was too much for Lycoming and the blue and gold went down 29-12.

In the Messiah match, Lycoming won eight of ten weight classes, including Bryan Kopesky (Phillipsburg, NJ) pinning his man (5:52) at 184 pounds. Sean Cullen (Cinnaminson, NJ) won by major decision at 133, on his way to three wins on the day. Heavyweight Joe Ostrowski (Wilkes Barre, PA) also notched his first win of the season.

Against Hunter, the Warriors won six weight classes and featured pins by Kyle Hopkins (Milton, DE), Eric Miller (Muncy, PA) and Clint Gardener (Montoursville, PA). Cullen won by technical fall, as did Chris Dahlheimer (Felton, PA).

In the final contest, Lycoming took on the York Spartans, who had won four of five matches at The Budd Whitehill Duals to place third. York proved to be a powerful squad, winning seven of ten classes. Warrior James Saxton (Cinnaminson, NJ) won at 141 pounds in his only match of the day. Cullen defeated his man 7-5.

Lycoming has one match left in the regular season. On Monday night, the Warriors travel to Elizabethtown for a 7:00 p.m. contest.
