WARRIOR WRESTLERS PICK UP THREE DUAL MATCH VICTORIES

ALLIANCE, Ohio – The Lycoming College wrestling team traveled to Mount Union College, Saturday afternoon, for a trio of dual matches. The Warriors were perfect on the day, defeating Bethel College, 48-3; Mount Union , 30-21; and Division III Grand Valley State University, 22-12. Lycoming completes the dual match portion of their schedule with a record of 20-5.

Against Bethel, the Warriors lost just one bout. John Ambs (Sr./Mt. Joy, Pa.; Donegal), Jason Smith (Jr./Hughesville, Pa.; Hughesville), Matt Miller (Fr./Muncy, Pa.; Montgomery), and Tommy Snyder (Jr./New Columbia, Pa.; Milton) each recorded wins-by-fall at 141, 157, 184, and heavyweight, respectively. John Rhodeback (Jr./Lewisburg, Pa.; Lewisburg) added a decision at 125 pounds, as did Kyle Hopkins (So./Milton, Del.; Cape Henlopen) at 149 pounds. Three other Lycoming wrestlers accepted forfeits.

Versus Mount Union, Smith and Snyder again led the way with pins at 157 pounds and at heavyweight. Matt Miller and Justin Hoffacker (Jr./New Oxford, Pa.; Bermudian Springs) added decisions at 184 and 197 pounds. The Warriors also accepted forfeits at 125 and 133 pounds.

Finally, against Grand Valley State, Lycoming won 7-of-10 bouts. Nick Mascellino (So./Hopatcong, N.J.; Hopatcong) and Drew Barder (Fr./Millersburg, Pa.; Upper Dauphin) got things started with decisions at 125 and 133 pounds. Sean Reese (Sr./Milton, Pa.; Milton) added another decision at 149 pounds, and Smith extended the Warriors’ lead to 13-3 with a major decision at 157 pounds. Three more decisions in the upper weights by Jon Carlson (Sr./Emporium, Pa.; Cameron County), Hank Reedy (Fr./Sinking Spring, Pa.; Wilson), and Al Fluman (Sr./Gettysburg, Pa.; Gettysburg) sealed the match for Lycoming.

The Warriors’ next competition will be the Middle Atlantic Conference Championships on Saturday, February 19, at Wilkes University.
