LYCOMING WRESTLING PLACES FOURTH AT ITHACA INVITATIONAL

ITHACA, N.Y. – The Lycoming College wrestling team finished in fourth place in a field of 17 teams at the Ithaca College Invitational, this weekend. The Warriors had nine student-athletes place in seven different weight classes to help accumulate 127.5 team points.

Sean Cullen (So./Cinnaminson, N.J.; Cinnaminson) was Lycoming’s highest place winner, finishing third at 133 pounds. During the second day of competition, Cullen rebounded from 5-14 loss to Joe Jewett of Oswego to win his final two bouts – a 2-1 decision over teammate Drew Barder (Fr./Millersburg, Pa.; Upper Dauphin) and a 3-2 decision over Matt Sganga of Cortland. Barder went on the place fifth in the weight class.

Matt Miller (Fr./Muncy, Pa.; Montgomery) and Kevin Colton Craig (Sr./Flanders, N.J.; West Morris Mendham) each claimed fourth-place finishes for the Warriors. Miller wrestled at 174 pounds and was an impressive 5-1 during the second day of action. His victories included wins-by-fall over Tim O’Donnell of Springfield and Gary Bruzzese of Ithaca. Colton Craig competed at 197 pounds and went 3-2 on Saturday. He also recorded two falls, pinning teammate Justin Hoffacker (Jr./New Oxford, Pa.; Bermudian Springs) and Matt Eldridge of Cortland.

Tommy Snyder (Jr./New Columbia, Pa.; Milton) added a fifth-place finish at heavyweight. Snyder was 2-2 during the second day of competition with a decision over Bryan Petti of Ithaca and win by medical forfeit.

Four Lycoming wrestlers placed sixth in their respective weight classes, including: Eric Snyder (Sr./Milton, Pa.; Milton) at 141 pounds; Sean Reese (Sr./Milton, Pa.; Milton) at 149 pounds; Jason Smith (Jr./Hughesville, Pa.; Hughesville) at 157 pounds; and Derek Crane (Sr./Elizabethtown, Pa.; Elizabethtown) at 174 pounds.

The Warriors will compete in their first dual meet of the season when they host Shippensburg University on Friday, November 12, at 7:30 p.m.
