WARRIOR WRESTLING
FALLS AT ITHACA
ITHACA, N.Y. The
Lycoming College wrestling team traveled to Ithaca College,
Wednesday evening, for a non-conference dual match. The Warriors won
4-of-10 bouts, but ultimately fell to the 11th ranked
Bombers, 22-15. Lycoming, ranked 18th, drops to 13-7 in
dual matches this season. Ithaca improves to 9-4.
With the match
starting at 157 pounds, the Bombers won the first five bouts to
build a 16-0 lead. The Warriors first points came at heavyweight
with Tommy Snyder (So./New Columbia, Pa.; Milton) recording a
first period pin of Eric Wisecup.
Back-to-back
decisions at 125 and 133 pulled Lycoming within 16-12. Sean
Cullen (Fr./Cinnaminson, N.J.; Cinnaminson) tallied a 6-2
decision over Kyle Kemmerer at 125; and Kyle Hopkins (Fr./Milton,
Del.; Cape Henlopen) won a 6-0 decision over Bryan Gammons at
133. However, Ithaca clinched the match with a win-by-fall at 141
pounds to move ahead 22-12 with one bout remaining. Jeremy Adams
(Sr./Clearfield, Pa.; Clearfield) added a 4-2 decision at 149
pounds to make the final 22-15.
The Warriors are
in action again on Saturday, February 7, when they host Hunter, Mt.
Union, and York colleges for a quad-meet.
