LYCOMING WRESTLING GOES 2-1 AT PA/NY DUALS

OSWEGO, N.Y,. – The Lycoming College wrestling team returned to action Saturday afternoon at the Pennsylvania/New York Duals hosted by SUNY-Oswego. The Warriors went 2-1 versus the three New York teams, defeating Oswego 24-13, and RIT 30-15. Their only loss was an 18-16 setback versus Cortland. Lycoming is now 6-2 in dual matches this season.

John Battaglia (Sr./Beaver Falls, Pa.; Blackhawk) and Tommy Snyder (So./New Columbia, Pa.; Milton) led the way for the Warriors with perfect 2-0 records at 197 pounds and heavyweight, respectively. Snyder also tallied a pin.

John Ambs (Jr./Mt. Joy, Pa.; Donegal), Sean Reese (Jr./Milton, Pa.; Milton), and Grant Brindle (Jr./Pine Grove, Pa.; Pine Grove) each picked up two victories as well. Ambs went 2-1 at 141, Reese was 2-1 at 149, and Brindle was 2-0 at 174 and 0-1 at 184.

Other Lycoming winners included: Nick Mascellino (Fr./Hopatcong, N.J.; Hopatcong) with a pin at 125 pounds; Kyle Hopkins (Fr./Milton, Del.; Cape Henlopen) who was 1-1 at 133; Jason Smith (Fr./Hughesville, Pa.; Hughesville) who was 1-1 at 157; Lance Wilt (Fr./Lamar, Pa.; Central Mountain) who was 1-0 at 174; Andy Hull (Sr./Mill Hall, Pa.; Bald Eagle Nittany) who was 1-1 at 184; Al Fluman (Jr./Gettysburg, Pa.; Gettysburg) who was 1-0 at 197; and Chad Decker (So./Marysville, Pa. Susquenita) who recorded at pin at heavyweight.

The Warriors are in action again on Friday, January 9, when they begin competition in the Budd Whitehill Duals.
