WRESTLERS DEFEAT KING’S
WILKES-BARRE,
Pa. – The Lycoming College wrestling team traveled to King’s
College, Friday evening for a Middle Atlantic Conference dual match.
The Warriors won seven-of-ten bouts to post a 29-15 victory over the
Monarchs. Lycoming, ranked 19th in the nation, improve to
10-5 overall, while King’s falls to 5-8.
The Warriors
picked up their first victory at 133 pounds, where Kyle Hopkins
(Fr./Milton, Del.; Cape Henlopen) recorded a 7-0 decision over
John Houssock. Eric Snyder (Jr./New Columbia, Pa.; Milton)
then gave Lycoming a 9-6 lead by pinning Jeremy Ackerman at 141
pounds in just 94 seconds.
At 149 pounds,
Jeremy Adams (Sr./Clearfield, Pa.; Clearfield) won an
overtime decision versus Jim Morgan and Jason Smith
(Fr./Hughesville, Pa.; Hughesville) followed with a win-by-fall
at 157 pounds versus Drew Duhaut. The four consecutive victories
opened up an 18-6 advantage for the Warriors midway through the
match.
After the
Monarchs picked up a decision at 165 pounds, Eric Miller (Fr./Muncy,
Pa.; Montgomery) got the three points back for Lycoming with a
10-4 decision at 174 pounds. Lance Wilt (Fr./Lamar, Pa.; Central
Mountain) added a major decision at 184 pounds, defeating Mike
O’Hara 11-1.
At 197 pounds,
King’s Jason Reilly recorded a pin to pull his team within 25-15,
but Tommy Snyder (So./New Columbia, Pa.; Milton) closed out
the match with a 9-1 major decision over Jim Bishop at heavyweight.
The Warriors are
right back in action on Saturday afternoon, when they travel to
Delaware Valley College for a showdown of nationally ranked
programs.
