WRESTLING PLACES SEVENTH AT ITHACA
ITHACA, N.Y.
– The Lycoming College wrestling team opened up the 2003-2004
season by competing in a tournament at Ithaca College over the
weekend. The Warriors claimed one weight-class champion and six
place-winners to compile 92 team points for a seventh-place finish
in the 17-team field.
Jeremy Adams
(Jr./Clearfield, Pa.; Clearfield)
was Lycoming’s lone champion, winning the 149-pound weight
class. Adams went 5-0 during the two-day tournament, recording
four wins by decision and one win-by-fall.
Freshman Ben
Shull (Pipersville, Pa.; Valley Forge Academy) and sophomore Tommy
Snyder (New Columbia, Pa.; Milton) each added third-place
finishes. Shull was 6-1 at 157-pounds. He won five matches by
decision and recorded one pin. Snyder wrestled at heavyweight,
going 5-1 in the tournament. He tallied three decisions, one pin,
and one medical forfeit.
Three other
Warriors placed sixth in their respective weight classes. Sean
Cullen (Fr./Cinnaminson, N.J.; Cinnaminson) was 5-3, with a
major decision at 125 pounds. Lance Wilt (Fr./Lamar, Pa.;
Central Mountain) was 4-1 with a major decision and a pin at
174 pounds. John Battaglia (Sr./Beaver Falls, Pa.; Blackhawk)
was 4-3 at 197 pounds.
Lycoming will
compete in another tournament on November 15, when they travel to
Roger Williams College.
