WARRIOR WRESTLING PLACES FIFTH AT PETROFES TOURNAMENT

GRANTHAM, Pa. – The Lycoming College wrestling team placed fifth out of 13 teams at the Gerald J. Petrofes Tournament hosted by Messiah College this weekend. The Warriors had seven individuals place in six different weight classes to accumulate 92.5 points. SUNY-Brockport was the top team at the tournament with 180 points.

Grant Brindle (Jr./Pine Grove, Pa.; Pine Grove) and Jeremy Adams (Jr./Clearfield, Pa.; Clearfield) were Lycoming’s top finishers, each placing third at 184 pounds and 149 pounds, respectively. Brindle went 5-1 in the tournament with three pins and a major decision. Adams was 4-1 with one pin. Sean Reese (Jr./Milton, Pa.; Milton) also went 4-1 with a pin and placed fourth at 149 pounds.

Jason Smith (Fr./Hughesville, Pa.; Hughesville) at 157 pounds and Eric Miller (Fr./Muncy, Pa.; Montgomery) at 174 pounds each placed fifth. Smith was 4-2 with two pins and a major decision. Miller wrestled all the way back after losing his first bout to go 6-2, including a major decision.

At 197 pounds, John Battaglia (Sr./Beaver Falls, Pa.; Blackhawk) placed sixth with a mark of 2-3; and at 165 pounds, Heath Oberlin (So./Mifflinburg, Pa.; Mifflinburg) came in seventh with a record of 3-2, including two major decisions.
