WRESTLERS WIN PAIR OF MATCHES AT PA/NY DUALS
WILKES-BARRE,
PA The Lycoming College wrestling team picked up a pair of
dual match victories, Saturday afternoon, at the
Pennsylvania-New York Duals hosted by Kings College. The
Warriors defeated SUNY-Oswego in the opening round 38-3, and
then topped R.I.T 34-11. Lycomings dual meet record improves
to 4-1 overall.
Versus SUNY-Oswego
the Warriors won nine of the ten bouts, receiving pins from Jared
Weller (So./Philipsburg, PA; Philipsburg-Osceola) at 125
pounds, Jeff Tierney (Sr./Blairstown, NJ; North Warren
Regional) at 184 pounds, and Chad Decker (Fr./Marysville,
PA; Susquenita) at heavyweight.
Against R.I.T.,
Lycoming took seven of ten matches. Mike Waldron
(So./Williamsport, PA; Loyalsock) tallied a pin at 133
pounds, Andy Squires (So./Clearfield, PA; Clearfield) won
by fall at 141 pounds, and Tierney tallied his second pin of the
afternoon at 184.
Sean Reese
(So./Milton, PA; Milton)
and Matt Bruce (Jr./Guys Mill, PA; Maplewood) were also
double winners for the Warriors. Reese recorded a decision and a
major at 149 pounds, while Bruce tallied a decision and a major
at 174 pounds.
Lycoming is in
action again on Friday, January 10, during the opening day of
the Budd Whitehill Division III Duals.
