LYCOMING’S WALDRON NAMED PENNSYLVANIA WRESTLER OF THE YEAR

WILLIAMSPORT, PA – Lycoming College sophomore Mike Waldron (Williamsport, PA; Loyalsock) has been named the Division III Pennsylvania Wrestler of the Year by Pennsylvania Wrestling Newsletter. Waldron joins Rob Rohn (Div. I – Lehigh) and Shad Benton (Div. II – Pitt-Johnstown) as first-year recipients of the award.

Waldron capped his first season as a Warrior with a fourth-place finish in the 133-pound weight class at the NCAA Division III National Tournament earning All-America honors. During the season, he compiled an overall record of 38-3, including 29 consecutive victories leading up to the NCAA tournament. Waldron also led Lycoming with 22 pins on the year. Once at the national championships, Waldron tallied four victories – all by fall in a combined time of just 5:26.

As a team, the Warriors went 21-4 in dual matches to record the program’s fifth 20-win season. During the season Lycoming was ranked as high as sixth in the nation and finished 17^th as a team at the NCAA National Championships.
