WARRIOR
WRESTLING CROWNS THREE CHAMPIONS AT URSINUS TOURNAMENT
WILLIAMSPORT, PA
– The Lycoming College wrestling team traveled to Ursinus
College, Saturday, for an individual tournament. The Warriors
claimed three weight class champions and 10 other placewinners.
Andy Squires
(So./Clearfield, PA; Clearfield),
Jeremy Adams (Jr./Clearfield, PA; Clearfield), and Jeff
Tierney (Sr./Blairstown, NJ; North Warren Regional) were
Lycoming’s title winners. Squires won the 141-pound weight
class, winning a pair of decisions. Adams won the 157-pound weight
class by recording two technical falls and two decisions. Tierney
won the 197-pound weight class, pinning one opponent and winning a
decision.
Dan Winter
(Sr./Langhorne, PA; Neshominy)
and John Battaglia (So./Beaver Falls, PA; Blackhawk) placed
second at 165 and 197, respectively.
Three wrestlers
placed third for the Warriors: Jared Weller (So./Philipsburg,
PA; Philipsburg-Osceola) at 125 pounds; Derek Crane
(So./Elizabethtown, PA; Elizabethtown) at 165 pounds; and Matt
Bruce (Jr./Guys Mills, PA; Maplewood) at 174 pounds.
Lycoming
also had five wrestlers finish in fourth place in their respective
