WOMEN’S LACROSSE OPENS 2001 SEASON

ORLANDO, Fla. – The Lycoming College women’s lacrosse team opened their season with a spring break trip to Orlando, Florida, where they faced Bates College and SUNY-Potsdam. The Warriors split their games, falling to Bates 19-2 and defeating SUNY-Potsdam 11-4.

Lycoming’s season got off to a rocky start with the 19-2 loss to Bates. For the Warriors, Brenda MacPhail (Sr./Newtown Square; Marple Newtown) and Colleen Kenyon (Jr./Milmont Park; Ridley Senior) each scored a goal.

The Warriors rebounded to pick up their first win of the season and first under the direction of first-year head coach Katherine Roberts with an 11-4 victory over SUNY-Potsdam. MacPhail led the team with four goals, while adding a pair of assists. Kenyon added two goals and two assists. Darlene Moyer (Sr./York; Central York) scored one goal and assisted on two others. Hillary Barrett (Sr./Collegeville; Perkiomen Valley) recorded three goals and Lauren Evangelist (Fr./Perkiomen; Boyertown) tallied one goal.

The Warriors, 1-1 on the season, will not play again until March 23 when they host Hood College.
