WOMEN’S LACROSSE TRIPPED UP BY SUSQUEHANNA
SELINSGROVE, Pa.
– The Lycoming College women’s lacrosse team traveled to
Susquehanna University, Thursday afternoon, for a Middle Atlantic
Conference game. The Warriors struggled offensively against the
Crusaders, falling 13-4. The loss dropped Lycoming to 6-4 overall
and 1-3 within the conference. Susquehanna improved to 6-3 and
4-1.
The Crusaders
took control of the game early, scoring the first four goals of
the contest. The Warriors got on the board with just over 10
minutes to play in the opening half when Colleen Kenyon (Jr./Milmont
Park; Ridley Senior) scored an unassisted goal. Kenyon added
another goal before the half off an assist by Lauren Evangelist
(Fr./Perkiomen; Boyertown), but Lycoming entered the
intermission trailing 6-2.
Susquehanna’s
offense continued to roll in the second half adding seven goals to
their total. The Warriors tallied two more goals in the second
period as Kenyon picked up her third goal and senior Hillary
Barrett (Collegeville; Perkiomen Valley) scored her first of
the game. In goal, Jessica Miller (Sr./Emmaus; Emmaus) made
13 saves for Lycoming.
For the
Crusaders, Kat Geiger was the top scorer with four goals, and
Giulia Umile made 15 saves in net.
The Warriors
will return to action this weekend when they travel to Hood
College for a two-day tournament.
