LACROSSE WINS FOURTH IN A ROW
WILLIAMSPORT, Pa.
– Senior Heather Wilt (Wyoming; Dallas Senior) scored
four goals and senior Jessica Miller (Emmaus; Emmaus) had a
huge day in net, as the Lycoming women’s lacrosse team won their
fourth consecutive game, defeating visiting St. John Fisher
College 11-3, Sunday afternoon. The Warriors improve to 4-1
overall, while the Cardinals fall to 1-2.
Lycoming struck
early, with Wilt recording her first score of the afternoon, just
1:17 into the contest. The Warriors steadily built a 7-0 lead from
there, on the strength of four free-position goals. Brenda
MacPhail (Sr./Newtown Square; Marple Newtown) and Lauren
Evangelist (Fr./Perkiomen; Boyertown) each scored a pair of
goals in the first half, as did Wilt. Darlene Moyer (Sr./York;
Central York) added the seventh goal and assisted on another.
St. John Fisher
got on the board with just over eight minutes to play in the
first, when Kate Kearney scored an unassisted goal.
Lycoming put the
game away in the second half by adding four more goals. MacPhail
and Evangelist each scored their third goal of the game, while
Wilt added another pair of goals. The Cardinals recorded two
scores in the second half, one by Kearney and another by Shannon
Stephan from a free position.
Miller made 10
saves in goal for the Warriors, including four off free-position
shots-on-goal. Michele Bloom was in goal for St. John Fisher. She
made eight saves on the afternoon.
Lycoming will be
at home again on Tuesday afternoon, when they host Elmira College.
Game time is at 4 p.m.
