WOMEN’S LACROSSE WINS FOURTH IN A ROW

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Senior Heather Wilt (Wyoming; Dallas Senior) scored four goals and senior Jessica Miller (Emmaus; Emmaus) had a huge day in net, as the Lycoming women’s lacrosse team won their fourth consecutive game, defeating visiting St. John Fisher College 11-3, Sunday afternoon. The Warriors improve to 4-1 overall, while the Cardinals fall to 1-2.

Lycoming struck early, with Wilt recording her first score of the afternoon, just 1:17 into the contest. The Warriors steadily built a 7-0 lead from there, on the strength of four free-position goals. Brenda MacPhail (Sr./Newtown Square; Marple Newtown) and Lauren Evangelist (Fr./Perkiomen; Boyertown) each scored a pair of goals in the first half, as did Wilt. Darlene Moyer (Sr./York; Central York) added the seventh goal and assisted on another.

St. John Fisher got on the board with just over eight minutes to play in the first, when Kate Kearney scored an unassisted goal.

Lycoming put the game away in the second half by adding four more goals. MacPhail and Evangelist each scored their third goal of the game, while Wilt added another pair of goals. The Cardinals recorded two scores in the second half, one by Kearney and another by Shannon Stephan from a free position.

Miller made 10 saves in goal for the Warriors, including four off free-position shots-on-goal. Michele Bloom was in goal for St. John Fisher. She made eight saves on the afternoon.

Lycoming will be at home again on Tuesday afternoon, when they host Elmira College. Game time is at 4 p.m.
