WOMEN’S LACROSSE CLOSES CONFERENCE SCHEDULE WITH WIN
MADISON, N.J. –
The Lycoming College women’s lacrosse team wrapped up their
Middle Atlantic Conference schedule with a 14-7 win over FDU-Madison,
Saturday afternoon. The win improves the Warriors’ record to
10-5 on the season and 3-4 in the conference. The Devils fall to
6-7 and 1-5.
Lycoming jumped
out to a 3-0 lead in the first 10 minutes of the game before FDU
answered with three unanswered goals of their own. The Warriors
added a goal with seconds to play in the half to take a 4-3
advantage into the intermission.
After each team
scored a goal early in the second half, Lycoming broke the game
open by scoring eight unanswered goals over a 20-minute span. The
Devils added three goals in the final minutes but could not come
back any further.
Brenda
MacPhail (Sr./Newtown Square; Marple Newtown)
led the Warriors with a game-high seven goals. Hillary Barrett
(Sr./Collegeville; Perkiomen Valley) added five goals, while Colleen
Kenyon (Jr./Milmont Park; Ridley Senior) chipped in two goals
and two assists.
Lycoming will
host Elmira College on Sunday, April 22, at 2 p.m. for their final
game of the 2001 season.
