WOMEN’S LACROSSE FALLS TO DREW
WILLIAMSPORT,
Pa. – The Lycoming College women’s lacrosse team hosted Drew
University, Sunday afternoon, in their third consecutive Middle
Atlantic Conference game. The Warriors struggled offensively
against the Rangers, falling 9-2. The game was stopped with 9:59
left on the clock due to unsafe field conditions. The loss drops
Lycoming’s record to 5-3 overall and 1-2 within the conference.
Drew improves to 3-2 and 2-1.
The Rangers
struck first when Katie Woods scored off an assist by Tara
O’Flaherty. The Warriors responded quickly, scoring just 35
seconds later. Lauren Evangelist (Fr./Perkiomen; Boyertown)
tallied the goal with an assist by Brenda MacPhail (Sr./Newtown
Square; Marple Newtown). The rest of the half belonged to Drew
as they scored five more times to carry a 6-1 advantage into the
intermission.
In the second
half, it was Lycoming who found the goal first as MacPhail scored
off a free position to pull the Warriors within four. However, the
Rangers added to their lead with three goals before the game was
stopped.
MacPhail was
Lycoming’s leading scorer with a goal and an assist. Jess
Miller (Sr./Emmaus; Emmaus) made 13 saves in goal for the
Warriors.
Kara Fetter
recorded three goals to lead Drew. Woods and O’Flaherty each
added two scores. Emily Heoflinger was in goal for the Rangers,
making four saves in the game.
The Warriors
are at home again for their next game, on Tuesday, April 3 versus
Montclair State University.
