WOMEN’S LACROSSE CLAIMS THREE MAC ALL-STARS
WILLIAMSPORT, Pa.
– Three athletes from the Lycoming College women’s lacrosse
team were named Middle Atlantic Conference all-stars, Thursday
afternoon. The Warriors turned in the most successful season in
the program’s five-year history in 2001 with a record of 11-5.
Brenda
MacPhail (Sr./Newtown Square; Marple Newtown)
was named an MAC first-team all-star for the fourth time in her
collegiate career. MacPhail led Lycoming with 45 goals and 17
assists on the season. She is also the Warriors all-time leader in
both categories with 170 career goals and 64 career assists.
Lauren
Evangelist (Fr./Perkiomen; Boyertown)
earned second-team honors from the midfield in her rookie season.
Evangelist excelled at both ends of the field for Lycoming,
leading the team in groundballs with 79 and caused turnovers with
46 while scoring 30 goals and recording eight assists. Lisa
Klein (Sr./Elverson; Daniel Boone) made the second-team on
defense in just her second season in lacrosse. Klein was a key
component of the Warriors defense, picking up 20 groundballs and
causing 10 turnovers.
