Wallenhorst, Peacock
Recognized by IWLCA
Selected to Regional All-American Second Team
WILLIAMSPORT,
Pa. --- Picked to finish eighth in the conference before the
start of the season, Lycoming women’s lacrosse not only proved
those in Middle Atlantic Conference circles wrong by finishing
second in the league tournament, but also proved that excellent
player
performance is the lifeblood of a team’s success. Sophomores
Megan Wallenhorst (Rochester, N.Y./Irondequoit) and
Kristina Peacock (Webster, N.Y./Webster-Thomas), two of the
many integral pieces to the Lady Warriors’ success, were honored
for their outstanding seasonal play with Second Team All-Metro
Regional All-American selections by the Intercollegiate Women’s
Lacrosse Coach Association (IWLCA).
Wallenhorst,
voted the squad’s top offensive player by her teammates, led
Lycoming with 70 goals scored and tied for the team-lead with 74
overall points. She placed 16th in the nation with a
3.89 goals per game average. A MAC First Team
selection, Wallenhorst scored four or more goals in a game on 10
different occasions, setting a new Lady Warrior single-game
record with nine goals against Gwynedd-Mercy College. Most
impressive is the efficiency in which she scored as she
attempted only 118 shots for a tidy .593 shooting percentage.
In only two
years running atop the blue and gold attack, Wallenhorst has
notched 111 goals, already placing her fourth in team history.
She has also scored at least one goal in each of her 31 games at
Lycoming.
Peacock
was stellar between the pipes for Lycoming this season. Voted
the Second Team All-MAC goalkeeper, Peacock
played like a first team standout down the stretch. In three
playoff games, she sent away 49 opponents’ shots including 17
against Drew University in which she outshined first team keeper
Casey O’Brien. Just two days later, Peacock registered 20 saves
in the league title match against Messiah College.
The starting
net-minder in all 18 Lady Warrior contests, Peacock finished 13th
in NCAA Division III with a .568 save percentage. She stopped
12 or more shots nine times including a pair of 20 save
performances, both against Messiah. |
