Wallenhorst, Raby, Peacock Also Honored
WILLIAMSPORT,
Pa. --- With the playoffs only hours away, Lycoming women's
lacrosse learned that its historic 2006 season, symbolized by a
team-record 12 victories and first appearance in the Middle
Atlantic Conference playoffs, earned seven postseason awards
during MAC all-star voting.
Head coach
Kara Reber and freshman Sarah Wingerden (Macedon,
N.Y./Palmyra-Macedon) headline the Lady Warriors' successes.
Reber, in only her third season at the helm, earned the MAC
Coach of the Year award in voting by her conference peers.
Wingerden notched 59 regular season points and won the last
Player of the Week award of the season as a catalyst to being
recognized as the MAC Rookie of the Year.
Joining
Wingerden on the MAC First Team is conference leading scorer
Megan Wallenhorst (Rochester, N.Y./Irondequoit).
Wallenhorst put up 70 points this season including 66 goals.
The Lady
Warriors' defense picked up a pair of MAC Second Team honors.
Sophomore defender Lauren Raby (Walnutport, Pa./Northern
Lehigh) and second year goalkeeper Kristina Peacock
(Webster, N.Y./Webster-Thomas) represent a Lady Warriors'
backline that surrendered only 131 goals this season.
Congrats to the
Lady Warriors on a fine season. |
