Peacock
Recognized for Gutsy Effort
WILLIAMSPORT, Pa.—Lycoming’s women’s lacrosse team (8-0, 4-0)
stepped into the national rankings this week, placing 19th
on insidelacrosse.com and 20th on the IWLCA coaches’
poll. Both polls are widely respected, but the IWLCA tends to be
the authority.
“Three years
ago, we had six players on our team,” recalls fourth year head
coach Kara Reber, “We had ‘bring a friend to practice
day’ so we could fill our roster. In four years, we’ve gone from
114th in the laxpower.com power ratings to a Top-20
ranking. It feels great to see our hard work bring results.”

In their most recent contest, the Lady Warriors nipped FDU-Florham
11-10 in overtime. Goalkeeper Kristina Peacock (Webster, NY)
did not start the game because of illness, but with Lycoming
down 5-0, she came in and held FDU to 5 goals over the final 46
minutes. Peacock had a remarkable 15 saves in that time,
including one in OT. Peacock’s “Jordanesque” performance earned
her honorable mention Player of the Week from womenslacrosse.com.
The
undefeated Lady Warriors travel to Scranton on March 29.
Lycoming then stays on the road to face Montclair State on April
1. Montclair State also broke into the IWLCA rankings this week
at #18.
