Warriors Named All-Region
IWLCA Announces DIII
All-Regional Team
WILLIAMSPORT,
Pa.—Accolades continue to roll in for Lycoming’s women’s lacrosse
team. Four Lady Warriors were awarded All-Regional honors by the
Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Association.
Sophomore
midfielder Sarah Wingerden (Macedon, NY) and junior
attacker Megan Wallenhorst (Rochester, NY) earned two of
the 16 first-team spots. They had previously garnered first and
second team All-MAC recognition respectively.
Wingerden,
who shared Lycoming MVP honors with goalie Kristina Peacock
(Webster, NY), recorded 43 goals and 13 assists in 2007. She
also led the team with 23 caused turnovers. In the first-round of
the MAC Playoffs, Wingerden tied Lycoming records with nine goals
and twelve points. Among her nine goals was the 100th of her
collegiate career.
Wallenhorst,
who earned Lycoming’s Best Offensive Player Award,
scored 66 goals and dished 14 assists in 2007. She was twice named
MAC Player of the Week. In the first-round MAC Playoff game,
Wallenhorst broke the all-time Lycoming record for career goals
with her 171st. She scored six times in the game, then
scored six more goals in the second-round contest.
Senior
defender Erin Dillon (Bayside, NY) and sophomore defender
Morgan Reale (Phelps, NY) both made second team IWLCA
All-Regional. Dillon also gained first team All-MAC this season.
Dillon
was named Best Defensive Player for the Lady Warriors in 2007. For
Reale, this was the first postseason recognition for an
outstanding sophomore season. |
