Lady
Laxers Defeat King’s
McIntyre Notches
Four Goals, One Assist
WILLIAMSPORT, Pa—Lycoming’s women’s lacrosse team (6-0, 2-0)
defeated conference foe King’s (1-3, 0-1) on Tuesday 15-12. The
Lady Warriors were up by nine with ten minutes to play, but
allowed the Lady Monarchs to surge late.
Lycoming
dominated much of the game, leading at halftime 8-3. Freshman
attack Megan McIntyre (Baltimore, MD) led the charge with
four goals and an assist on the day. Sophomore midfielder
Sarah Wingerden (Macedon, NY) also had an outstanding game
with three goals and one assist.
Head coach
Kara Reber sat most of her starters early in the second
half and still enjoyed a 14-5 lead after Crystal Cody’s
(Rochester, NY) goal from Paige Botti (Upperco, MD)
with 10:04 left in the game. But King’s would not give in. Led
by
senior
Lindsay Sabo, who had four goals on the afternoon, the
Lady Monarchs netted seven straight scores before McIntyre
closed the door with a last minute goal.
MAC
Player-of-the-Week Megan Wallenhorst (Rochester, NY)
spread the ball around with a team-high three assists and a goal
for Lycoming. MAC Goalie-of-the-Week Kristina Peacock
(Webster, NY) grabbed 11 saves and eight ground balls from
the crease. Freshmen Justine Titko (Wrightstown, NJ) and
Brianna Robertson (Brechin, ONT) each notched a pair of
goals.
The Lady
Warriors play a previously postponed match tomorrow at Widener,
then return to the friendly confines of Shangraw Athletic
Complex on Saturday, March 24 for another conference game
against FDU-Florham at 1:00 p.m. Lycoming is currently ranked
#18 in the nation on
