Lady Laxers Defeat King’s
McIntyre Notches Four Goals, One Assist

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa—Lycoming’s women’s lacrosse team (6-0, 2-0) defeated conference foe King’s (1-3, 0-1) on Tuesday 15-12. The Lady Warriors were up by nine with ten minutes to play, but allowed the Lady Monarchs to surge late.

Lycoming dominated much of the game, leading at halftime 8-3. Freshman attack Megan McIntyre (Baltimore, MD) led the charge with four goals and an assist on the day. Sophomore midfielder Sarah Wingerden (Macedon, NY) also had an outstanding game with three goals and one assist.

Head coach Kara Reber sat most of her starters early in the second half and still enjoyed a 14-5 lead after Crystal Cody’s (Rochester, NY) goal from Paige Botti (Upperco, MD) with 10:04 left in the game. But King’s would not give in. Led by senior Lindsay Sabo, who had four goals on the afternoon, the Lady Monarchs netted seven straight scores before McIntyre closed the door with a last minute goal.

MAC Player-of-the-Week Megan Wallenhorst (Rochester, NY) spread the ball around with a team-high three assists and a goal for Lycoming. MAC Goalie-of-the-Week Kristina Peacock (Webster, NY) grabbed 11 saves and eight ground balls from the crease. Freshmen Justine Titko (Wrightstown, NJ) and Brianna Robertson (Brechin, ONT) each notched a pair of goals.

The Lady Warriors play a previously postponed match tomorrow at Widener, then return to the friendly confines of Shangraw Athletic Complex on Saturday, March 24 for another conference game against FDU-Florham at 1:00 p.m. Lycoming is currently ranked #18 in the nation on www.insidelacrosse.com.
