Women’s Lacrosse Announces 2007 Awards
Wingerden and Peacock Co-MVPs

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa.—Lycoming College’s women’s lacrosse team voted on its postseason awards, recognizing seven players for their 2007 performances. The Lady Warriors went 14-4 on the season and advanced to the second round of the Middle Atlantic Conference Playoffs.

Sophomore midfielder Sarah Wingerden (Macedon, NY) and junior goalie Kristina Peacock (Webster, NY) shared the MVP award. Wingerden, who was also last year’s MVP, had 43 goals and 13 assists in 2007 and received first team All-MAC honors. Peacock amassed 202 saves and led the team with 62 ground balls. She was responsible for all 14 Lady Warrior victories.

Second team All-MAC attacker Megan Wallenhorst (Rochester, NY) was named Best Offensive Player for the third year in a row. Wallenhorst’s 66 goals led Lycoming on the season. In the first round of the MAC Playoffs, the junior broke the College’s all-time career goal record with her 171st score.

First team All-MAC defender, Erin Dillon (Bayside, NY) earned the Best Defensive Player Award for her tenacious style and leadership. In her senior season, Dillon scooped up 43 ground balls and caused 20 turnovers.

Freshman defender Danielle Gargiulo (Branchburg, NJ) was voted Most Improved Player for advancing her game throughout 2007. By season’s end, Gargiulo was a regular starter. She scooped up 26 ground balls and caused 19 turnovers in 2007.

Freshman Amanda Baker (Media, PA) took home the Sportsmanship Award, while sophomore Kelly Mack (New Egypt, PA) won the Coaches Award. Baker had five goals and five assists for the year. Mack scored 20 goals and dished one assist.
