Lycoming
Takes it to Moravian
Lady Laxers Back on
Winning Track
WILLIAMSPORT, Pa.—The #16 Lady Warriors (11-1, 6-1) defeated
Moravian (0-9, 0-6) by a score of 18-6 on Saturday at Shangraw
Athletic Complex. Lycoming hopes to remain in the IWLCA Top-20
this week, after a loss to Elizabethtown on Tuesday..
Perhaps the
Lady Warriors were taking out the frustration of losing their
first game of the season. Whatever the reason, the Lycoming rang
up twelve first-half scores on the Lady Greyhounds, including
the opening five goals of the game.
Sophomore
Sarah Wingerden (Macedon, NY) started the scoring just 21
seconds into the game on an assist from freshman Megan
McIntyre (Baltimore, MD). Junior Megan Wallenhorst
(Rochester, NY) scored the first of her two goals just 44
ticks later on a pass from Justine Titko (Wrightstown, NJ).
Titko took her turn next, scoring on a pass from Lycoming’s
all-time assist leader Heather Suit (Annapolis, MD).
Freshman Amanda Baker (Media, PA) fed McIntyre for goal
number four and Titko scored a free-position goal, just over six
minutes into the game, to give the Lady Warriors a 5-0 lead.
Starting
goalie Kristina Peacock (Webster, NY) was pulled at 15:24
in the first and Brittany Bryan (Petersburg, NJ) took
over between the pipes. Bryan had eight saves on the day.
Head coach
Kara Reber played nearly all of her roster and almost
every offensive player who entered the game scored at least a
point on a goal or assist. Ashley Collins (Westminster, MD),
Kelly Mack (New Egypt, NJ), Kelli Morsey (Baltimore, MD) and
Jackie Calbi (Annandale, VA) joined Wallenhorst, Titko
and McIntyre with a team-high two goals. Amanda Baker led both
teams with three assists for the game.
Freshmen
Samantha Bell (Maple Shade, NJ), Paige Botti (Upperco, MD)
and Ashley Steel (Ocean City, MD) also scored goals for
Lycoming.
At halftime,
three Lady Warriors were recognized for Senior Day. Defender
Erin Dillon (Bayside, NY) and managers Becki Bogash (Glen
Mills, PA) and Nicole Carlozzi (Pennington, NJ) were
applauded for their four-year contributions to the team.
The Lady
Warriors host Susquehanna on Wednesday at 4:30. It will be the
last regular season home game for the blue and gold, who travel
to Drew and Wilkes to close out the season.
