2007 Women's Lacrosse

Lady Warriors Stay Undefeated Against Rochester
Wallenhorst Turns in Five Goal Performance

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa.—Lycoming’s women’s lacrosse team (4-0) defeated the University of Rochester (0-1) on Sunday by a score of  11-8 at Shangraw Athletic Complex. Junior attack Megan Wallenhorst, who is from Rochester, led the Lady Warriors with five goals on seven shots for the game.

With crisp passing around the net, the Lady Yellow Jackets played Lycoming well in the first half and the teams went into the break tied at six. Lycoming head coach Kara Reber advised her players to cut down on turnovers and tighten up defensively and the Lady Warriors responded, holding Rochester to just two second half goals. Goalie Kristina Peacock (Webster, NY) had five of her seven saves after halftime and scooped up eight ground balls on the day.

Wallenhorst scored the first three goals of the second half on two assists by freshman Megan McIntyre (Baltimore, MD) and one from Sarah Wingerden (Macedon, NY). Rochester answered with a goal, but Wingerden’s unassisted strike at 8:52 wowed the crowd and returned Lycoming’s cushion at 10-7. Wingerden had two goals and three assists all day.

Freshman midfielder Brianna Robertson (Brechin, ONT) netted the Lady Warriors final goal. Heather Suit (Annapolis, MD), Crystal Cody (Rochester, NY) and Justine Titko (Wrightstown, NJ) also scored for Lycoming. Lady Yellow Jacket Alanna Tievsky scored four goals for Rochester.

The Lady Warriors take on powerhouse Messiah on Wednesday, March 14 at 4:00 p.m. The game will be played at Shangraw Athletic Complex in Williamsport and will be Lycoming’s first conference match-up.
