Warriors Rally to Beat SUNY-Oneonta
Team Depth Plays Big
Role in the Win
ORLANDO,
Fla.—The Lycoming women’s lacrosse team rallied to defeat SUNY-Oneonta
18-14 on Friday in the second game of the Lady Warriors spring
break trip to Disney Florida.
“We didn’t
play our best lacrosse today,” said head coach Kara Reber, “but
our subs kept us in it in the first half and we made it out with
a victory.”
Down at
halftime 5-8, Lycoming dug deep and eclipsed the deficit. Junior
attack Megan Wallenhorst (Rochester, NY) led the Lady
Warriors’ second period charge with five of her team-high six
goals coming after halftime. Junior goalie Kristina
Peacock (Webster, NY) held the Lady Red Dragons to six goals
after the break. Peacock had 11 saves on the day and five ground
balls.
Christi Karr
(Lansdale, PA)
and Megan McIntyre (Baltimore, MD) showed the strength of
Reber’s freshman class, scoring two goals each when it counted.
Lycoming sophomores Sarah Wingerden (Macedon, NY), Crystal
Cody (Rochester, NY) and Kelly Mack (New Egypt, NJ)
also found the net. Wingerden had four goals, with three coming
after halftime. Cody and Mack scored two goals apiece.
