LYCOMING WOMEN’S LACROSSE COMES UP SHORT VERSUS KING’S

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – The Lycoming College women’s lacrosse team hosted King’s College, Saturday afternoon, for a Middle Atlantic Conference contest. The Warriors battled the Monarchs throughout the game but came up just short of their conference rival, falling 10-12. Lycoming is now 3-8 overall and 1-7 within the MAC this season. King’s improves to 10-4 and 5-3.

The Monarchs controlled the action early, opening up a 4-1 lead just seven minutes into the game. The Warriors, however, fought back to knot the score at 5-5 just before halftime.

Lycoming kept the momentum to start the second half scoring a goal three minutes in to take their first lead of the contest at 6-5. The Warriors would also hold a lead of 8-7 with 19 minutes to play, but King’s scored three unanswered goals to reclaim the lead and eventually win the game.

Megan Wallenhorst (Fr./Rochester, N.Y.; Irondequoit) led Lycoming with five goals in the game. Erica Likens (Sr./Bel Air, Md.; Bel Air) added two goals and one assist, while Erin Dillon (So./Bayside, N.Y.; Saint Francis Prep) recorded two assists. Heather Suit (Fr./Annapolis, Md.; Broadneck), Cassie Mocyk (So./Baldwinsville, N.Y.; Charles W. Baker), and Lauren Raby (Fr./Walnutport, Pa.; Northern Lehigh) each contributed one goal.

Kristina Peacock (Fr./Webster, N.Y.; Webster-Thomas) played 55 minutes in goal for the Warriors, making 14 saves.

Lycoming will travel to Wilkes University for their next game on Friday, April 29.
