WOMEN’S LACROSSE COMES UP SHORT VERSUS KING’S
WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – The Lycoming College women’s lacrosse team
hosted King’s College, Saturday afternoon, for a Middle Atlantic
Conference contest. The Warriors battled the Monarchs throughout
the game but came up just short of their conference rival,
falling 10-12. Lycoming is now 3-8 overall and 1-7 within the
MAC this season. King’s improves to 10-4 and 5-3.
The Monarchs
controlled the action early, opening up a 4-1 lead just seven
minutes into the game. The Warriors, however, fought back to
knot the score at 5-5 just before halftime.
Lycoming
kept the momentum to start the second half scoring a goal three
minutes in to take their first lead of the contest at 6-5. The
Warriors would also hold a lead of 8-7 with 19 minutes to play,
but King’s scored three unanswered goals to reclaim the lead and
eventually win the game.
Megan
Wallenhorst (Fr./Rochester, N.Y.; Irondequoit)
led Lycoming with five goals in the game. Erica Likens (Sr./Bel
Air, Md.; Bel Air) added two goals and one assist, while
Erin Dillon (So./Bayside, N.Y.; Saint Francis Prep) recorded
two assists. Heather Suit (Fr./Annapolis, Md.; Broadneck),
Cassie Mocyk (So./Baldwinsville, N.Y.; Charles W. Baker),
and Lauren Raby (Fr./Walnutport, Pa.; Northern Lehigh)
each contributed one goal.
Kristina
Peacock (Fr./Webster, N.Y.; Webster-Thomas)
played 55 minutes in goal for the Warriors, making 14 saves.
Lycoming
will travel to Wilkes University for their next game on Friday,
April 29. |
