WARRIOR WOMEN’S LACROSSE FALLS IN CONFERENCE OPENER

SCRANTON, Pa. – The Lycoming College women’s lacrosse team traveled to the University of Scranton, Wednesday afternoon, for their first Freedom Conference match of the season. The Warriors fell behind early and never recovered, losing to the Royals 20-6. Lycoming is now 1-2 overall this season, while Scranton improves to 2-0.

Megan Wallenhorst (Fr./Rochester, N.Y.; Irondequoit) led the Warriors with three goals in the game. Erica Likens (Sr./Bel Air, Md.; Bel Air) added two goals and one assist, while Heather Suit (Fr./Annapolis, Md.; Broadneck) tallied one goal and one assist. Dana Halaquist (Fr./Windsor, N.Y.; Windsor Central) also recorded an assist.

Ashley Meyer (Fr./Pittsford, N.Y.; Pittsford Sutherland) and Kristina Peacock (Fr./Webster, N.Y.; Webster-Thomas) split time in goal for Lycoming. Meyer played 20 minutes making eight saves and giving up 11 goals. Peacock finished the game, recording four saves and allowing nine goals.

The Royals were led by junior Kelly Herlihy with four goals and four assists. Sophomore Jackie Messantonio added four goals and one assist. Junior Courtney Enman made five saves in goal for Scranton.

The Warriors will look to rebound in their next game on Thursday, March 24, when they travel to Wilkes University for another conference contest.
