WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – The Lycoming College women’s lacrosse team hosted Susquehanna University, Wednesday afternoon, for a Middle Atlantic Conference contest. The Warriors could not overcome a string of six unanswered goals by the Crusaders, falling by a score of 8-5. Lycoming drops to 3-5 overall and 1-4 within the MAC. Susquehanna improves to 5-4 and 4-1.

The Crusaders’ Rachel Devilbiss opened the scoring just 2:39 into the game. Seventeen seconds later, the Warriors’ Megan Wallenhorst (Fr./Rochester, N.Y.; Irondequoit) evened the score at 1-1 with an unassisted goal of her own. The tie score was short-lived, however, as Susquehanna added three more goals in the first half for a 4-1 lead at halftime and then the first three goals of the second half for a 7-1 advantage with 16 minutes to play.

Lycoming ended the run with back-to-back goals by Wallenhorst and Heather Suit (Fr./Annapolis, Md.; Broadneck). Wallenhorst added two more goals in the final minute, but the Warriors did not have enough time left to complete the comeback. Kristen Dart (Sr./Saratoga, N.Y.; Saratoga Springs) assisted on one of Wallenhorst’s scores.

Ashley Meyer (Fr./Pittsford, N.Y.; Pittsford Sutherland) was strong in goal for Lycoming making 17 saves. Abby Goss was in net for the Crusaders, recording four saves in the contest.

The Warriors will travel to Widener University on Saturday, April 16, for their next game.
