LYCOMING WOMEN’S LACROSSE DEFEATED BY WIDENER

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – The Lycoming College women’s lacrosse team hosted Widener University, Saturday afternoon, for a Freedom Conference contest. The Warriors were defeated by the visiting Pioneers by a score of 21-1. Widener scored the first three goals of the bout and Lycoming never recovered. The Warriors fall to 2-3 overall, while the Pioneers improve to 7-1.

For Lycoming, Lauren Evangelist (Sr./Perkiomenville, Pa.; Boyertown) scored the only goal of the day. Laurie Rooney (Sr./Audubon, N.J.; Audubon) played the entire game in the cage making eight saves.

Eight players from Widener scored in the game, led by Lauren Goane (Springfield, Pa., Springfield) with six goals and eight assists. Nicole Jiulianti (Springfield, Pa., Springfield) added five goals and one assist. Tricia Lynch (Toms River, N.J., Monsignor Donovan) contributed three goals and four assists. 

Goalkeeper Erin Patterson (Exton, Pa., Downington) played the first half allowing the only goal and recording three saves before giving up the cage in the second half to Brianna Tarry (Levittown, Pa., Conwell Egan Catholic). Tarry did not face a shot on goal.

The next game for the Warriors will be Monday, April 5th, at 4:00 p.m. at home against Montclair State University.
