WARRIOR WOMEN’S
LACROSSE SUFFERS LOSS TO SCRANTON
WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – The Lycoming College women’s lacrosse team
hosted the University of Scranton, Thursday afternoon, in a
Freedom Conference game. The Warriors scored first but could not
hang with the Royals for long, falling 5-24. Lycoming drops to
3-7 overall and 1-6 in the conference. Scranton improves to 8-4
and 7-0.
Lauren
Evangelist (Sr./Perkiomen, Pa.; Boyertown)
scored the games opening goal just 24 seconds into play. She
went on to lead the Warriors with four goals and an assist.
Erin Dillon (Fr./Bayside, N.Y.; St. Mary’s) accounted for
Lycoming’s fifth goal.
Despite the
final score, Laurie Rooney (Sr./Audubon, N.J.; Audubon)
had a huge day in goal, making 25 saves and picking up 16
groundballs. Her 25 saves rank as the fourth highest
single-game total in the eight-year history of the program.
Five
different players scored four goals for the Royals, led by Kelly
Herlihy, who also added three assists, and Kate Pierangeli, who
tallied two assists. Marykate Connolly chipped in one goal and
three assists. Courtney Erman made four saves in goal for
Scranton.
The Warriors
play again on Saturday, April 17, when they travel to King’s
College for another conference contest.
