WOMEN’S LACROSSE RECORDS COMEBACK VICTORY
WILKES-BARRE, PA
– The Lycoming College women’s lacrosse team traveled to
King’s College, Thursday evening, for a Middle Atlantic
Conference match-up. The Warriors overcame a three-goal deficit
late in the game to steal a 15-13 victory over the Monarchs.
Lycoming is now 3-4 overall and 3-3 within the conference.
King’s falls to 4-5 and 2-3.
The Monarchs
scored the first two goals of the game, but the Warriors came back
to knot the game at 3-3 midway through the first half. The teams
traded goals over the rest of the half leading to an 8-8 tie at
the half.
In the second
half, King’s made the first move towards taking control of the
contest, scoring three unanswered goals to take a 13-10 lead with
just less than 13 minutes to play. Lycoming, however, shut the
Monarchs out the remainder of the game while score five goals of
their own to seal the win.
Erica Likens
(So./Bel Air, MD; Bel Air)
led the Warriors with eight goals and two assists. Sarah
Gibbons (Sr./East Hampton, CT; East Hampton) added three
goals. Lauren
Evangelist (Jr./Perkiomen, PA; Boyertown) and Karyn Wright
(Sr./Schenectady, NY; Schenectady) each chipped in two goals
and two assists.
Laurie Rooney
(Jr./Audubon, NJ; Audubon)
made 15 saves in goal for Lycoming.
The Warriors are
in action again on Saturday, April 12, when they host Moravian
College at 2 p.m.
