WARRIOR WOMEN’S LACROSSE TOPPED BY SCRANTON

WILLIAMSPORT, PA – The Lycoming College women’s lacrosse team hosted the University of Scranton, Monday afternoon, in an important conference contest. The Warriors fell behind early and despite a strong comeback attempt eventually fell 10-7 to the Royals. Lycoming drops to 5-6 overall and 2-3 within the conference. Scranton improves to 6-3 and 3-1.

The Royals jumped out to an early 2-0 lead only to have the Warriors score the next two goals to tie the game up. Scranton, however, began to pull away with three unanswered goals to go ahead 5-2. A score by Lycoming made it 5-3 at the half. The Royals then put the game out of reach with the first three goals of the second half. The Warriors scored three unanswered goals of their own to pull within two at 8-6, but could get no closer.

Lauren Evangelist (So./Perkiomen, PA; Boyertown Area) led Lycoming’s offense with four goals. Beth Weixel (Fr./Mill Hall, PA; Central Mountain) recorded two assists. Sarah Gibbons (Jr./East Hampton, CT; East Hampton), Melissa Wert (Jr./Mifflinburg, PA; Mifflinburg), and Ashley Rowe (Fr./Fairfax, VA; W.T. Woodson) also added a goal each.

Scranton was led by Bridget Lee (Jr./West Nyack, NY; Albertus Magnus) and Liz Baumbach (Jr./Long Valley, NJ; West Morris Central) who each scored three goals. Lindsay Sullivan (So./Nanuet, NY; Nanuet) added one goal and three assists.

Colleen Clarke (Fr./Folsom, PA; Cardinal O’Hara) made 14 saves in goal for the Warriors. Kathleen Scanlan (Jr./New City, NY; Albertus Magnus) made eight saves for the Royals.
