Victimized by Long Scoring Runs

DOYLESTOWN, Pa. --- Delaware Valley College
used a pair of big runs in each half to propel itself to a
75-57 home victory over Lycoming College in a Freedom
Conference game. The win improves Delaware Valley College
to 12-5 overall and 4-2 in conference play. The Lady
Warriors fall to 4-11 and 1-5.
Delaware Valley led from start to finish but an Andrea
Cooper (Hollidaysburg, Pa./Hollidaysburg) three-pointer
pulled Lycoming to within four at 15-11 with 14:06
remaining. The Aggies took control over the next seven
minutes as they notched 24 of the next 30 overall points
scored for a 39-17 edge.
The Warriors, after weathered the Aggies’
mistake-free run, closed to within 14 at 43-29 going into
the half thanks in part to four Delaware Valley miscues in
the final minutes of play.
Delaware Valley still held a 14-point advantage,
56-42, with 11:54 to go in the contest. But the Lady
Warriors scored seven straight to pull to within seven at
56-49 with 8:59 left on the clock.
Over the next minute and a half of play, the
Aggies’ Rachel Joyce hit three free throws, but
senior Amy Kile (Muncy, Pa./Muncy) hit a jumper just
inside the three-point line to get Lycoming within eight at
59-51 with 7:37 remaining.
A three-point play by Brooke Dittmar
spelled trouble for Lycoming as it ignited a 10-0 run by the
Aggies to put the game out of reach.
Senior Danielle Kern (Lehman,
Pa./Lake-Lehman) led four Warriors in double figures
with 15 points. She also added six rebounds, four assists,
and four steals to her stat line. Cooper followed up with
14 points including a pair of long-range hits. She also
racked up six boards and four assists. Kile and senior
Stacy Lindeman (Whitehall, Pa./Whitehall) added a dozen
tallies apiece to Lycoming’s efforts with the latter puling
down a team-best eight rebounds.
Julie McGowan
paced a quartet of double-digit scoring Aggies with 23
points and also added seven rebounds. Moira Donohue
notched 20 points, five assists, four rebounds and three
steals while Joyce had 15 points, seven boards, and five
assists. Dittmar dropped in 10 points and added six
rebounds.
Lycoming is next in action on Wednesday,
January 25, as the Lady Warriors welcome DeSales University
to Williamsport. Game time of the Freedom Conference match
up is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. |
