Lady Warriors Lose to Top-Ranked Scranton
National Powerhouse Too Much for Lycoming Women

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa.—Lycoming’s women’s basketball team (7-17, 2-11) couldn’t outmatch nationally-ranked Scranton (22-2, 13-0) on Thursday, falling to the Lady Royals 65-39 at Lamade Gymnasium. Scranton was the number on ranked team in the country three weeks ago and now sits at number six.

Sophomore Andrea Cooper (Hollidaysburg, PA) and freshman Gina Manbeck (Shenandoah Valley, PA) led the Lady Warriors with seven points each. Manbeck hit a three-pointer late in the game and converted both of her foul shots.

Freshmen Rebecca Leid (Denver, PA) and Jessica Zerbee (Duncansville, PA) each had four rebounds, while fellow frosh Amanda Clouse (State College, PA) played a strong game off of the bench. Leid was second for Lycoming with six points.

However, Scranton’s six-foot guard Taryn Mellody put up 18 points, including a pair of three-pointers. Meanwhile, opposite guard Allison Matt had 15 and 6’2” center Tiffaney Williams scored 13 points.

Lycoming will play its final game of the season on Saturday, taking on Delaware Valley away at 1:00 p.m.
