Wins Crosstown Battle
Lady Warriors
Defeat Penn College at Elmira
WILLLIAMSPORT, Pa.—The Lady Warriors defeated crosstown
rival Pennsylvania College of Technology in the consolation
game of the Elmira Tournament on Saturday. Lycoming claims
bragging rights despite 22 points by Penn College’s
Amanda Ault.
The Lady
Warriors were led by freshman Brittany Knopp’s (Allenwood,
PA) 16 points, including a perfect 4 for 4 from the foul
line. Sophomore Andrea Cooper (Hollidaysburg, PA) put
in 11 points and added a team-high five rebounds and a
block.
Around
five minutes into the game, Penn College took an 11-8 lead,
but Lycoming took over and led for most of the game. With
less than 11 minutes remaining in the contest, the Lady
Wildcats and Lady Warriors were tied at 45, but a pair of
free throw buckets by Knopp put Lycoming up for good.
Lady
Warrior Gina Manbeck (Shenandoah Valley, PA) scored a
personal season-best 10 points for Lycoming. Head coach
Chris Ditzler is seeing many different players step up
so far this season. This could lead to powerful depth as the
young Lady Warriors progress.
Lycoming
plays at PSU-Altoona on December 17 at 2:00 p.m. The Lady
Warriors then take a holiday break and return to Lamade
Gymnasium to host their own Tournament on January 5-6.
