Lycoming Falls to Rowan in Consolation
Nabholz Named to All-Tournament Team

Nabholz DrivesWILLIAMSPORT, Pa.—Lycoming’s women’s basketball team faced a tough Rowan University squad on Saturday in the consolation game of the Lady Warriors’ “Hoops for Hounds” Tournament. When the final buzzer sounded, Rowan emerged with a 63-58 victory. Following the game, freshman Jessica Nabholz (Cressona, PA) was named to the All-Tournament Team.

Less then three minutes after tip-off, Nabholz sunk a three-pointer to put the Lady Warriors up 10-2, but Rowan battled back with marked tenacity. The score teetered back and forth, resting on 29-28 Lycoming at the half. Nabholz led all scorers with nine points in the first period.

Zerbee ShootsRowan scored six unanswered points to begin the second half, but the Lady Warriors also stormed back. Lycoming gave a determined effort throughout, but the Lady Profs were ultimately too much.

Rebecca Leid (Denver, PA) led the Lady Warriors with 12 points on the afternoon, while Jessica Zerbee (Duncansville, PA) put up 10 points. Rowan’s sharpshooting Brynn DeGroff scored 34 points over the weekend to earn a spot on the “Hoops for Hounds” All-Tournament Team.

The Lady Warriors next contest is at Scranton on Wednesday, January 10 at 6:00 p.m.

York Wins Tournament Championship

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa.--York College (8-4) held off SUNY-Brockport (7-2) in the Lycoming Tournament's championship game, 69-63. Lady Spartans Keli Ward and Kristen Daly were named to the All-Tournament team. Ward also walked away with Tournament MVP honors, while Daly settled for scoring 57 points over York's two games. SUNY-Brockport's Katie Marcella was also named to the All-Tourney team.

Lady Warriors Fall to SUNY-Brockport

Leid Plays DefenseWILLIAMSPORT, Pa.—In the opening game of the Lycoming Women’s Basketball Tournament, the Lady Warriors fell to SUNY-Brockport 60-46 on Friday night. The Tourney is called “Hoops for Hounds” because all proceeds benefit the Lycoming County SPCA.

Jessica Nabholz had a big game for Lycoming, scoring a season-high 14 points. Nabholz was the only Lady Warrior in double-digits. Rebecca Leid scored eight points. SUNY-Brockport’s Katie Marcella notched a double-double with 18 points and 10 rebounds, while Courtney Hines put in 12 points.

In the evening’s second game, York College defeated Rowan University in a thrilling double overtime match-up. Rowan will now face Lycoming in the tournament’s consolation game at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. York will take on SUNY-Brockport in the championship at 3:00 p.m. Both games will be held in Lamade Gymnasium.
