WOMEN COMEBACK VERSUS BLUE JAYS; FALL IN OVERTIME
ELIZABETHTOWN,
Pa. – The Lycoming College women’s basketball team overcame a
13-point halftime deficit to force an extra five minutes of play,
but could not pull out the win as Elizabethtown hung on for a
68-63 overtime victory.
The Lady Warriors
fell behind early in large part due to fouls. Lycoming sent the
Blue Jays to the free-throw line 12 times and Elizabethtown
capitalized by connected on 11 of the 12 opportunities. The Lady
Warriors came roaring back, however, in the second half by
connecting on 56% of their shots. The effort was good enough to
force an extra period, but Elizabethtown regained their composure
and outscored Lycoming 9-4 to seal the victory.
For the second
night in a row, Lyndy LeVan (So./South Williamsport; South
Williamsport) was the top scorer and rebounder with 26 points
and 10 rebounds. Laurie Scherer (Jr./Mahanoy City; Mahanoy)
added 13 points and five boards. Senior point guard Adrienne
Wydra (Ashland; North Schuylkill) tallied six assists in the
game.
The loss drops
Lycoming’s record to 4-6 overall on the season. Elizabethtown
improved to 6-2. The Lady Warriors will look to return to the win
column when they travel to Wilkes University on Wednesday, Jan.
10.
