WOMEN HAVE STREAK ENDED BY DEVILS
WILLIAMSPORT, Pa.
– The Lycoming College women’s basketball team hosted FDU-Madison
Saturday afternoon, riding a three-game winning streak. The Lady
Warriors, however, watched a four-point halftime lead slip away as
the Devils came back to win 70-65.
Lycoming held a
lead through the majority of the game until FDU broke through with
seven minutes to play in the game. With the Lady Warriors leading
by seven points, the Devils went on a 20-2 run to take a
commanding 62-49 lead with just 2:18 to play. Lycoming fought back
to keep it interesting down the stretch but could get no closer
than three, eventually falling by five, 70-65.
Lyndy LeVan
(So./South Williamsport; South Williamsport)
led the Lady Warriors’ offense with 27 points. She also grabbed
seven rebounds. Jenalynn Boos (Sr./Roseto; Pius X) led the
team in rebounding with 11 boards, while scoring seven points. Laurie
Scherer (Jr./Mahanoy City; Mahanoy) added 12 points, seven
rebounds and three blocked shots.
FDU’s Kate
Pearson led all scorers with 32 points in her first start of the
season. She also led her team with 10 rebounds.
The Lady Warriors
drop to 7-7 overall with the loss and 3-4 within the MAC Freedom
Conference. The Devils improve to 10-3 and 4-3. Lycoming will
travel to Penn State-Altoona on Monday evening for a
non-conference contest.
