LYCOMING’S WOMEN’S BASKETBALL TEAM UPSETS DELAWARE VALLEY

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – The Lycoming College women’s basketball team defeated Delaware Valley College 81-73, Sunday afternoon in Lamade Gymnasium. The Aggies had entered the game with a record of 11-1, having won their first 11 games before falling to the University of Scranton last Wednesday. The Lady Warriors jumped ahead of Delaware Valley early and held off multiple comeback attempts by the Aggies to secure the victory.

Lycoming played strong defense in the first half, holding Delaware Valley to just four points in the opening six minutes of play. The Lady Warriors would extend their lead to as many as 14, but the Aggies refused to go away, narrowing the margin to one by halftime.

In the second half, Lycoming again built an 11-point advantage only to have Delaware Valley cut it back to one with six minutes remaining in the game. The Lady Warriors, however, had one surge of their own left and pulled away down the stretch, bring the final score to 81-73.

Lyndy LeVan (So./South Williamsport; South Williamsport) was the game’s leading scorer with 23 points. She also grabbed six rebounds and recorded three assists. Jenalynn Boos (Sr./Roseto; Pius X) had a huge game on the boards, pulling down 19 rebounds. She also scored 18 points to record the double-double. Freshman Emily DiMarco (Voorhees, NJ; Eastern) came off the bench to score 17 for Lycoming, including four three-pointers.

The victory improves the Lady Warriors’ record to 6-6 overall and 2-3 in the MAC Freedom Conference. The Aggies fall to 11-2 overall and 3-2 in the conference. Lycoming will play again next Wednesday when they travel to Drew University and will return home on Jan. 20 to host FDU-Madison.
